FARMINGTON, NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 14, 2022 – Leonard’s Express – a leading transportation services provider offering refrigerated trucking, dry van, warehousing, and freight brokerage services – has made four strategic leadership changes to allow the company to accelerate growth while delivering greater value to its customers and partners.
Troy Wiitanen, formerly the company’s Vice President of Logistics, has been promoted to Vice President of Sales. In this role he will continue implementation and execution of Leonard Express’s enterprise and brokerage transformation through strategic leadership of the company’s sales and account management teams. In addition, Wiitanen will be responsible for the sales development, financial health and operational success of the enterprise sales and account management organization.
“Troy’s breadth of understanding of the trucking industry, combined with his intimate knowledge of our new processes and rules of engagement, make him ideal for this position,” said Kevin Johnson, Leonard’s Express Chief Operating Officer. “His background in sales, brokerage, and cross-team collaboration will position him and this team for exponential growth.”
Tom O’Donnell has been promoted from Northeast Regional Director for the company’s brokerage division to Vice President of Logistics. In this position, O’Donnell will lead the non-asset function of Leonard’s Express through the management of regional directors and their organizations and will be responsible for the overall performance of the company’s brokerage division. This includes execution of strategy aligned to Leonard’s Express goals, growth metrics, headcount, client service requirements and performance metrics.
“Tom’s expertise, experience, logistics acumen and leadership will allow him to successfully continue execution of our brokerage transformation,” Johnson stated. “We’re confident in his ability to grow this area of our business.”
Steven Adamski replaces Tom O’Donnell as Northeast Regional Director. With a proven track record in supply chain management, operational excellence and team leadership, Adamski will be responsible for the financial health and overall success of the region. He will work closely with a team of regional managers to ensure execution of strategic objectives assigned by the VP of Logistics.
Adamski comes to Leonard’s Express from AeroSafe Global. As Director of Service Operations, he oversaw all functions of the plant including performance relative to production and quality standards.
“Steve will play a key role for Leonard’s Express,” Johnson said. “His expertise in transportation, logistics and supply chain management will help ensure that we meet our strategic objectives and deliver on our promise to customers in the Northeast Region.”
Leonard’s Express also welcomes Jeffery Kessler as its new Director of Warehouse Operations. In this position, he will be responsible for the operational management, financial health and overall success of the corporate warehousing operation. He will also play a primary role in sales development, and be a key connector across the corporation, working closely with logistics and all sales functions.
Prior to joining the company, Kessler was an Account Manager for Maverick Transportation, where he ensured optimal use of dedicated drivers, while working closely with management to grow the company’s business and control costs. He also held a variety of sales and operations positions for Wright Beverage Distributing in Le Roy, NY.
“Jeff brings extensive operations management experience and leadership skills to his work at Leonard’s Express,” said Johnson. “He will help ensure the provision of total logistics solutions to our customers.”
