FARMINGTON, NEW YORK – March 16, 2023 – Leonard’s Express – a leading transportation services provider offering refrigerated trucking, dry van, warehousing and freight brokerage services – has announced that Katie Griffin, its Director of Fleet Safety, was named a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation by the Women in Trucking Association (WIT).

Griffin has worked at Leonard’s Express for more than 20 years to create a culture of safety and inclusivity. She is a member of the company’s women in trucking committee and a winner of the Pat Johnson Award, an annual recognition program created by Leonard’s Express to honor extraordinary women who demonstrate the qualities of leadership, selflessness, and integrity. Under Griffin’s leadership, Leonard’s Express won the Trucking Association of New York’s 2021 Fleet Safety Award Grand Trophy. The company also improved its year-over-year safety rating, reducing its CSA scores by 18% and minor incidents by more than 40%.

In addition to Griffin’s Top Women to Watch award, Leonard’s Express driver Ann McFarland was recognized in February as one of three finalists for WIT’s Driver of the Year award. The annual award recognizes outstanding female professional drivers who lead the industry in safety standards while actively enhancing the public image of the trucking industry. The Driver of the Year will be announced on March 31st by WIT at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky.
