FARMINGTON, NEW YORK – June 5, 2024 – FleetOwner, a leading news source for the trucking and freight transportation industries, has released its annual FleetOwner 500, a list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. Leonard’s Express ranked 7th among the top refrigerated carriers in North America and 120th among all for-hire carriers. The list is based on the total number of commercial power units registered by each company.
The FleetOwner 500 is an annual project that FleetOwner conducts with data analysis partner ProsperFleet. According to FleetOwner, there are no biases in the ranking process; their fact-based methodology ensures a level playing field when compiling data. ProsperFleet compiles the rankings through information reported to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (SAFER) System. They also gather information from company websites, press releases, and media coverage.
In recent years, Leonard’s Express has increased its focus on helping shippers manage cold chain integrity to keep perishable goods fresh. For example, Leonard’s built a state-of-the-art refrigerated facility in Shortsville, NY. The 114,500 square-foot temperature-controlled warehouse is improving supply chain capacity across New York state and providing shippers such as Wegmans with a cost-effective option to move and store freight.
