FARMINGTON, NEW YORK – July 9, 2024 – Transport Topics, a leading news source for the trucking and freight transportation industries, has released its annual Top 100 list of largest for-hire carriers in North America. Leonard’s Express ranked 7th among top refrigerated carriers in North America and 91st among all for-hire carriers. The list is based on overall revenue generated over the past 12 months.

Even in the face of a freight recession, each of the top seven companies recognized on the refrigerated carriers list earned more than $200 million in revenue from their refrigerated transportation divisions. Leonard’s Express earned more than two-thirds of its total revenue last year from refrigerated solutions as part of its emphasis on cold chain integrity.
Through the depressed labor market and broader industry downturn, Leonard’s Express has modernized its fleet and state-of-the-art cold-chain warehouse to serve its food grade customers. While other fleets have aged, Leonard’s continues to purchase new refrigerated trailers every 7 years, providing updated equipment and technology to its drivers and customers.
Earlier this year, Leonard’s Express upgraded its in-cab electronic logging device (ELD) system by partnering with ISAAC Instruments, which allows Leonard’s drivers to more efficiently manage their daily routines and better ensure the safety of freight they are delivering. The company has also added safeguards to ensure the correct temperature is set including requiring photos of the temperature setting for each load.
